How to Choose Quality Chicken Meat:

  1. Look & Lack of Aroma:

Fresh chicken may be identified right away by looking at it. The fresh chicken will have pinkish-coloured flesh and skin with a hint of yellow. Additionally, since these flaws might influence the meat’s quality and freshness, you should avoid any meat that is bruised, has skin tears, or exhibits any other visual damage. Also plump will be the fresh chicken meat. The flesh should be robust and return to its original shape after a few seconds if you press against it.

  1. Without the use of antibiotics:

Because chicken might be labelled antibiotic-free or grown without antibiotics, understanding the label jargon for antibiotic use can be challenging. The USDA mandates that producers follow a withdrawal or waiting period to guarantee that antibiotics are no longer present before chicken can be labelled as antibiotic-free. Consumers may be sure that hens were never given antibiotics because they were raised without them.

  1. Grass-Fed/Vegetable-Fed:

When it comes to a healthy diet, choose grass-fed and vegetable-fed chicken over grain-fed chicken. These healthier birds will produce meat with superior flavour, as was already mentioned. If the meat is labelled as “grass-fed” or “vegetable-fed,” the chicken was raised on a diet free of animal byproducts. Producers occasionally add animal byproducts to the food of their hens to save expenses and hasten growth rates.

  1. Texture:

The texture of the raw, fresh chicken is shiny and a little soft. It shouldn’t have a slimy, tacky, or sticky texture. After handling raw chicken, the chicken has gone rotten if your hands come away with a sticky residue. Compared to raw chicken, cooked chicken is firmer and drier.
