Nothing beats the taste of a homemade tomato. And knowing when to pick tomatoes changes the game. Having a garden full of tomato plants is one way to make a profit and have a plentiful supply of tomato fruits. It can also be a good stress reliever to keep yourself entertained and distracted from the things that are causing you stress. In addition, a tomato garden also adds extra beauty and scenery to your area.

Ripe tomatoes taste better than those harvested early and then aged until fully ripe.

Most tomatoes in supermarkets or grocery stores are harvested before they are ripe and, therefore, never taste as good as home-grown ones. You should be aware that tomatoes will continue to ripen after being picked, but their oxygen source has been cut off, so they taste much better when they are allowed to ripen on the vine.

You want them to be red and hard to the touch. If it has to be red, it has to be red everywhere, not red on one side and green on the other. But when compressed, it should be a little soft. Take a well-ripe tomato and twist it lightly. It should come right off the vine. You want to avoid breaking branches or planting parts when picking tomatoes Tomato Mentor.

If you want to be extra careful, use garden shears or a harvesting knife. Cut off the stem where it is attached to the plant. If you do this carefully, you won’t harm your plant and will have many more tomatoes to harvest. Tomatoes ripen from the inside, so if they are ripe on the outside, they are always ripe on the inside. You should know that they will not ripen well at temperatures above 86 degrees.

Once you get your first mature plant, keep checking your plants daily because almost every day, you will get another mature plant. It is essential to cut mature plants because if you stop harvesting mature plants, they will stop planting new ones.

If you are still picking tomatoes and you know they will freeze, take the whole plant out and hang it upside down in the basement or outdoors. The tomatoes will continue to ripen on the plant even if you pull them out.

Conclusion

If you have many tomatoes, you will need to learn how to freeze them. You will find that by canning or freezing them, you can enjoy them in the dead of winter, and they will be so delicious and fresh.
